    Integrated Sight Glass
The built-in sight glass provides a clear view of the backwash process so you can stop backwashing precisely when the water runs clear , improving effectiveness and conserving water

A recommendation for installation is to first connect the device to the filter, followed by connecting the PVC pipes one at a time. Begin with any threaded components, starting with the angled pipe if available.

If all connections had unions, this would simply involve disconnecting the old leaking valve and installing the new one. All 1-1/2" male thread fittings require cleaning, and Teflon tape was applied to the threads, resulting in a perfect seal with light hand pressure. It is important to avoid over-torquing, as this could compromise the integrity of the connection.

This project was not complex and resulted in significant cost savings of several hundred dollars.

After replacing this valve, the filter element requires cleaning less frequently than before. The handle now operates with ease, eliminating previous difficulties in turning it.

    Easy Lever‑Action Handle
The smooth, six-position lever allows quick and precise switching between Filter, Backwash, Waste, Rinse, Closed, and Recirculate modes.

    1. Filter
Role: The default position for normal pool operation. Water is drawn from the pump, passes through the DE filter media, and returns clean to the pool—ideal for daily circulation and vacuuming. (poolweb.com)

    2. Backwash
Role: Reverses the flow (from top to bottom through the filter) to clean out accumulated debris from the filter media. The dirty water is sent out the waste line. Typically used until water appears clear in the sight glass.

    3. Rinse
Role: Post-backwash operation. Water flows from the pump, bypasses the filter media but flushes through to the waste line, clearing any remaining debris before returning to Filter mode—preserves DE media and prevents recontamination.

    4. Waste
Role: Bypasses the filter entirely and sends water directly to waste. Useful for lowering pool water level or vacuuming heavy debris without clogging the filter.

    5. Recirculate
Role: Circulates water through the pump and back to the pool without passing through the filter. Helpful for running pool chemical treatments (e.g. flocculants) or when a filter is being serviced or cleaned.

    6. Closed
Role: Completely shuts off flow between the pump and filter. Used when servicing or isolating the filter—prevents backflow and protects the system.
