What’s a ground loop?
A ground loop is a phenomenon that can occur when two or more audio devices are connected together by two ground paths at the same time, the first with the audio connection and the second with the power connection.
Should I use a grounded PSU?
Using a grounded PSU instead of a floating one can eliminate ground loop noise but may introduce noise when adding external gear. Using TONEX alone, a grounded PSU might solve the issue. For multiple devices, identify which gear is causing the noise.
Noise while connecting to a P.A. system?
You can usually connect your device directly to a P.A. system without problems. If noise occurs, use a D.I. box to lift the ground and prevent interference. Refer to the User Manual (Page 10) for details on setting up this solution.
Noise while using the TONEX device as an audio interface?
Noise might result from a ground loop caused by multiple devices using separate grounds. Simplify your power setup to minimize interaction or use a ground loop isolation box or D.I. box to resolve the issue.
