Great question.We have made the deliberate choice to make our packaging as sustainable as possible.To that end, our packaging is all fully recyclable, with no hard plastics or styrofoam inserts.
How does Bluelab make calibration super easy?
Calibrating is an easy & fast process! Each pen includes calibration solutions & clear instructions.A check mark appears when the pen is calibrated.When the pen loses calibration, the check mark disappears, informing you it's time to recalibrate.
I sometimes see a white crust built up on the end of the pen. What is this?
This is very common in pH meters & is nothing to worry about.The storage solution used to hydrate your pen (and extend its longevity) is potassium salt, which sometimes dries as a white crust on your probe.Simply rinse this away under water.
Can I use the pH Pen to measure the pH of tap water, distilled water, or reverse-osmosis water?
No. For distilled & RO water there aren't enough dissolved ions (salts) for a stable pH reading. For tap water, w/o sufficient dissolved minerals, the answer is also no. Adding a few drops of KCL storage solution may work to enable a stable reading.
